When starting a running regimen, you should plan to run 3 to 5 days per week to achieve optimum health.  You should also keep a close watch on your heart rate while running, and stay within 50 to 85 percent of your maximum heart rate.  As far as the length of the workout, it's ideal to do 20 to 60 minutes of continuous or intermittent exercise.  If you'd like to enjoy the many jogging benefits, start a training program with the help of your physician and experience the benefits for yourself.
