It's a fact: 95% of people that begin an online business venture fail within two to three months. You know the story, your friend tells you how amazing a product or opportunity is, so you give it shot only to find that you have sold your products or opportunity to your warm market and just don't know what else to do. The internet is great way to promote and find people that are looking for what you are selling but you must avoid these three common mistakes of marketing online.

1. Not using the product yourself. This is key people, how can you sell something that you aren't using. You must find something that you truly believe in and believe that it can help or benefit or meet the needs of others. People get caught up in finding multiple ways to make money and lose focus by joining to may affiliates or signing up to do multiple online businesses. Find something you have a passion for and stick with it.

2. Not setting a schedule to work your business. Yes, it's true that most of us must have multiple streams of income to make ends meet in this tough economy and there are several other chores that must be done. If you do not make time for your business you business will not make money for you. You can do all the right things: build a website, do search engine optimization and market through paid or free marketing methods but if you are not following up on leads, staying in touch with current customers, staying on top of the latest training provided by your company and not continually, and I mean on a daily basis working your business you will become the statistic mentioned above.

3. Not thinking like the search engines do. You can spend a lot of time and have a lot of fun building a website with the latest flashes, frames and images but if the search engine can't find it, neither can your potential customers. In order for the search engines to find you and drive traffic to your website, you must include keyword content, have a simple and search engine friendly URL, include a site map and have contact information on every page. Make your website easy for the search engines to find and make it easy for people to contact you.
