Hemorrhoids are veins that are in the anus and when they become dilated varicosities (similar to varicose veins in the legs).
They can be internal and external.
They usually lead to a discomfort, bleeding and in some cases severe pain.
What causes hemorrhoids? o Most people will have hemorrhoids at some point in their life.
o Constipation and long delays in defecating.
Also applying immense pressure in the region can do great harm.
o Inheritance is also influenced, if their parents or grandparents suffered from hemorrhoids, you may have higher risk of having hemorrhoids.
o Pregnancy in women due to the effort to give birth, can lead to hemorrhoids, and usually disappear after delivery.
o Standing in one place for a long time, or carrying weight, can help or worsen symptoms of hemorrhoids.
This is especially true in the work environment.
What are the symptoms? o The most common is red blood from the anus that can be seen on the toilet paper.
o In internal hemorrhoids (the most common) bleeding is not accompanied by pain.
o Sometimes hemorrhoids can come from inside the anus, and prolapse outside.
One can then get a painful lump on the anus.
Which is usually accompanied by intense discomfort and pain.
Methods of Treating Hemorrhoids - Warm-water baths f (3-4 a week) for 10-15 minutes.
- Ice packs.
- Anti-haemorrhoid cream, for a limited time (no more than 5-7 days, because it can cause more bleeding).
- Analgesics (Paracetamol...
) - Do not suppress the desire to go to the bathroom.
- Perform one stool per day, preventing diarrhea.
- Avoid being too long in the bathroom (avoid exertion).
- If hemorrhoids prolapse (fall outside the anus), it is best to try to return them to - Its usual position by gentle pressure with your finger.

Drink fluids: 2 to 3 quarts a day (juice, soups, avoid alcohol).
Do some exercise daily, but avoid cycling for long periods of time.
Surgical Solutions? Sometimes surgery is needed.

Band ligation is to put a rubber ring around the hemorrhoids until they slowly fall off.
Haemorrhoid-ectomy may be necessary to completely remove the hemorrhoid.
They can also be coagulated with laser sclerosed by injection.
