Often whenever I would go into a new city to set up business, I would survey the area and see what type of competition I had.
Indeed it was for this reason that I would always see if there was a truck wash in the town, and sit out in front of the truck wash for hours on end counting the number of vehicles that came through, and estimating how much money they were making during that time period.
A funny thing happened to me when I first started doing this, I watched a gentleman in a very nice motor coach, a glorified motor home get on top of his motor home and start trying the top of it off.
I thought to myself; that seems rather dangerous, because the gentleman appeared to be 65 years old or older.
He would put a towel down and drag it with his foot over the flat area on the top of the motor home, and then try to ring it dry while leaning over the edge.
As I watch this, I was hoping he wouldn't fall over the side, and splatter on the pavement below, as he was up in the air above the concrete, a good 15 feet.
Of course, I eventually realized when I owned my own motor coach, that when you go to a truck wash, the water puddles on top because it is flat.
And then when you drive down the road, or you turn a corner all the water goes over the side, and ruins wash job.
It leaves terrible streaks down the side worse than if you hadn't watched it the first place, not to mention all of your windows are now streaked as well.
Therefore, if you do any sort of motor home washing at a truck wash, or if you do it on-site for a customer, you need to know this.
If you are careful with how you spray, and if you are doing the washing in the sun, it is quite possible that you can clean the vehicle without putting very much water on top at all, and that solves the problem.
Also if the vehicle will be stationary for a long period of time after you wash it, then in fact it doesn't matter.
However when a motor home comes out of a truck wash and gets washed, generally the people get in and drive down the road, and that's the worst of all worlds.
Indeed I hope you will please consider all this and think on.
