- 1). Brush your teeth with baking soda nightly. Every night replace your normal toothpaste with baking soda. Sprinkle baking soda over your toothbrush and apply water. Brush your teeth as normal. Baking soda may taste a little strange, but its scrubbing power is phenomenal. It removes the toughest stains caused by smoking. You should notice a difference in 1 to 2 weeks.
- 2). Floss every night after brushing your teeth. It is important to remove all tar and tobacco product in between your teeth every night before you go to sleep. When you sleep, the germs in your mouth grow at twice the rate.
- 3). Use mouthwash every time you smoke. Smokers' teeth stain yellow because cigarettes contain tar and nicotine, which form a yellow film. The best way to prevent this is to use a tar-fighting mouthwash every time you smoke. Special mouthwashes made just for smokers fight tar buildup. Follow each cigarette with mouthwash. Carry travel-sized bottles when you're out in public.
- 4). Schedule regular cleanings at the dentist. The dentist usually schedules a cleaning for your teeth every 6 months. Instead, go every 3 months to ensure stains are not settled in for long.
