Farming exotic plants in the lawn has always been and to my advice constantly will be a very regular garden style (most importantly among men). The all encompassing plant range checks fully hardy exotics (Fatsia), fully hardy exotic looking plants (Phormiums) and the tender exotics (Brugmansia). Tender exotics want winter protection either by conveying inside, setting in the greenhouse or wrapping in horticultural fleece.
There are two main themes to exotic gardens; jungle impression (palms, bamboo & large leaved plants) or arid plants (cacti, succulents & aroids). Therein mixture of plants you can add together exotic flowers and exotic fruit to give your border extra punch. To fill the gaps between your prize exotics use ferns, bamboos and grasses to your internet site contrast and make your plants be noticed.
Example is Calotropis procera, a shrub or tree with lavender flowers and cork-like bark. The wood makes a fibrous substance that is used for rope, fishing line and thread. Calotropis procera along with this has tannins, latex, rubber and a dye that are used in industrial practices. It is named a weed in its native India but has also been used traditionally as a medicinal. It has numerous brightly colored names such as Sodom Apple, Akund Crown flower and Dead Sea Fruit, but the scientific name is Calotropis procera.
Exotic gardens are generally not simply for the tropical islands of the Caribean. You can obtain a tropical visual appearance with the right plant features and the correct colors.
Want the plants. Your right plants for the garden relies on your location. There are far more exotic plants for Florida than there are for Ohio, so be heedful if you order the plants from the Internet. More and more exotic plants, though, can be grown either as annuals or by elevating the plant and wintering in a basement. This is true of cannas, which give shiny green or bronze leaves and are crowned with vivacious red or yellow flowers all the way until frost. Elephant ears can be cared for the in an identical way and, if started indoors early in the year, they will become quite large by midsummer. Some bamboo can also be grown in the north, but as with all bamboo you need to be watchful that it does not get out of bounds. From Zone 7 and southward, both cannas and elephant ears are recurrent and do not necessarily need to be dug up each fall.
