How To Wear Colored Liquid Liners

There's nothing more exciting than buying new makeup. Most of us can get into a routine of wearing the same colors and products every day, and from time to time find ourselves wanting to switch things up a little. Incorporating new colors into your makeup doesn't mean they need to be crazy bold or bright, but what about those that want to experiment with different hues? From cream shadows, to powder, waterproof eyeliners to liquid, the eyes are the easiest focal point to change color tones up a bit and try something new.

One of my favorite products? Color liquid liners. An easy way to incorporate something different than the standard black or brown, without dramatically changing your whole makeup look. Here's my makeup artists guide to wearing color liquid eyeliners that will leave you excited to try every color of the rainbow:

1. Baby Blues: Blue liquid liner comes in all shades, from pastel to teal, there are many different hues of blue that will make your eyes pop in no time. I love blue eyeliner because it looks great when combined with other colors, or really beautiful all by itself. If you want to wear a brighter blue liner, mix it with more neutral shadow shades, like rose gold or champagne, and don't overcomplicate it. The blue will speak for itself and the less shadow you have the better. Prefer navy instead? Go ahead and pair it with pretty much any shadow color you desire, as navy tends to go with everything.

2.Va-Va Violet: A common tone picked for hazel and brown eyes, violet and purple toned liquid liners are a great way to add drama to the lash-line without working overtime. When creating a smoky look with violet eyeliner, you can pair it with deep bronze shadow tones on the eyelids. When wanting to go more romantic and soft, try it with a lighter and more shimmery lilac shadow. A great trick for lightening eyeliner is to swipe a shimmering eyeshadow in the same color family on top. This will soften it up, and give you more versatility in wearing makeup products you already have at home.

3. Gold Digger: While you might not be the type to endlessly search mens pockets for money, a little gold eyeliner is a great way to add mischief without all the drama. The key? Make sure the gold isn't too yellow-toned, which can have an adverse effect on the skin making it appear sallow. Deeper gold to bronze liquid liner tones are beautiful on fair, olive, and deep skin tones, making it one of the most beautiful liner colors to try. If you have fair skin, try pairing a bronze liner with a plum lipstick. Medium and darker skin tones can pair with an orange-red lipstick for a nice change.

4. Gorgeous Greens: Not to be confused with a leprechaun, green liner will stop people right in their tracks when the color is right. When experimenting with green liquid liner, avoid bright and neon like tones, which are a bit dated and harsh on the skin. Hunter greens, emerald greens, and teal like green tones are great alternatives to their neon counterparts that will compliment your eyes 24/7.
