Massachusetts College of Art and Design Description:


Massachusetts College of Art and Design is a public visual and applied arts college located in Boston, Massachusetts. It was the first college in the country to grant an art degree and is one of the few publicly funded art schools in the United States. MassArt is a member of the Colleges of the Fenway consortium. The urban campus is surrounded by several nearby colleges as well as many of Boston’s cultural institutions including the Museum of Fine Arts.

Academically, MassArt has a student faculty ratio of 10 to 1 and offers a bachelor of fine arts degree in 22 areas. Popular programs include fashion design, art teacher education, graphic design and painting as well as master’s programs in fine arts, art education and architecture. Students participate in a range of cultural, educational and social activities on campus and throughout the community. MassArt does not sponsor any varsity athletic teams, but students may participate in Emerson College’s athletic program through the Professional Arts Consortium.
