Victoria Azarenka - Tennis Professional

In 2012 Victoria Azarenka won the Australian Open tennis tournament, her first grand slam victory, over Maria Sharapova (6-3, 6-0). With that win she became, for the first time in her career, ranked the #1 player in woman's tennis. Previously known for her loud grunting and shrieking on the court, as well as for temper tantrums, she's matured into a formidable and confident tennis professional. She still grunts!

She was born on July 31, 1989. Victoria moved from Belarus to Scottsdale, Arizona to train at the age of 15, sponsored by Phoenix Coyotes goalie Nikolai Khabibulin and his wife, training at the Scottsdale Athletic Club. In 2005 Vika won the Junior Australian Open title as well as the Junior U.S. Open title. She is the third woman to have won both the Australian Juniors and later the Australian Open as a professional.

While she lists Monte Carlo as her home (presumably for tax purposes) she spends a lot of time in Scottsdale, and was on the cover of Scottsdale Health magazine in 2009. In that same year, ESPN published an article about Azarenka's relationship with Khabibulin's family.
