- Pink is already a common color in a lot of foods and beverages, so it is relatively easy to incorporate it. Serve milk with strawberry syrup or make strawberry milkshakes for younger guests. Older guests might enjoy punch made with ginger ale and raspberry sorbet. For alcoholic drinks, try adding pink cotton candy to the top of a cosmopolitan or a Shirley Temple to tie it into your pink theme. Put a new spin on a soda fountain favorite by making a strawberry soda (instead of the traditional chocolate variety): combine seltzer with strawberry syrup and a scoop of ice cream. Add grenadine to your favorite clear liquor, just enough to pink it up and serve it in shot glasses.
For garnishes, try pink sugar crystals around daiquiri glasses. Or, add a slice of pink grapefruit onto the edge of a glass of a nonalcoholic beverage.
- There are many pink snacks that you can serve your guests. Use strawberry cream cheese and spread it over bagels or bagel chips. Offer guests open-faced ham sandwiches so the pink will show through on top. Create pink kabobs by skewering chunks of pink grapefruit, papaya and watermelon onto wooden sticks.
For food displays, choose pink napkins and plates. Or purchase pink doilies from Valentine's Day and add them to the bottom of all of your serving plates, underneath the food. Use pink column candle holders as a base for your serving trays, and find pink vases to hold cutlery.
- Make ambrosia salad using strawberry whipped topping and pink marshmallows instead of traditional white ones. Serve pink jelly beans, M&M candies and taffy in decorative bowls. You can always purchase paper mache boxes or bowls at a craft store and paint them pink.
Make pink strawberry cheesecake for a decadent treat. Top with fresh sliced strawberries and a chocolate drizzle. Use pink icing on cakes and cookies, and pink sprinkles to match. Or, dip pretzel rods into pink chocolate melts (available at craft and baking stores) and roll them in pink sugar crystals. Put a pink surprise inside a chocolate cake by adding in a layer of pink icing or raspberry preserves. Or slice up some strawberry bread for a lighter fare.
