Have you ever heard the phrase: "The money is in your list.
"
I am sure you must have.
It is one of the first things new online entrepreneurs learn when they are trying to start their online business.
What is important about the phrase is its implication.
What exactly is so critical about your list? Is it the fact that it gives you the contact details about people, who can be your customers in the future? Nearly so.
But the major implication is the fact that if your list is large enough, it will generate massive traffic to your website, increase your online presence and make sure your products and services sell! Mostly, the one thing that can decide if you are successful online is the amount of traffic your website generates.
Think about it this way: If you open up your shop next to a deserted road there is no chance you will enjoy increase in wealth (unless of course if you have a monopoly and people are just dying to buy your services, in which case you don't even need to start a business online).
On the other hand, if your start your business near the most commercially active area of a city, you are bound to get more customers into your store which would mean an increase in sales.
It is the same for websites.
Get more people to notice your online presence by article marketing, blogging, socially bookmarking websites and chances are you should be making decent money in no time.
So what exactly are the sure-fire ways of increasing your website traffic? I am astounded at the number of people who think they must spend thousands of dollars to generate traffic! That is the furthest thing from the truth! Here are the four ways to improve your website traffic (and its Page Rank and backlinks over time): 1.
Write MEANINGFUL articles on topics which your website is about:
Try not to include a sales pitch into your article.
Your goal is to portray yourself as an expert on a subject rather than a salesman.
At the end of the article, add a link pointing to your website with a brief info about yourself.
Chances are Google spiders will soon catch the link and spider your website, indexing it into the search engine.

Start a blog on your website: I
cannot emphasize on this enough! Start a blog, include some interesting posts and your will see a surge of traffic over time.
The reason for this is that the Internet is full of people exchanging information (as opposed to products which many people believe).
If you create a meaningful blog on a chosen topic and stick to it, you will get TARGETED visitors who in the long term will buy from you! 3.
Socially bookmark your websites:

Do it! Just search for your favourite blogs on the internet and if you find a post interesting, comment on it and provide your website URL at the end of the comment.
People like it when they receive feedback on their articles and will be sure to check your website link out of curiosity.
Try it for a couple of weeks and you will be sure to have many people eagerly surfing your website.
