When it comes to owning a laptop of any kind, it is extremely important to know the ups and downs of properly taking care of your laptop bag, to ensure for years to come.
To ensure that one's laptop and other mobile gear stay protected while traveling from place to place, use the following bag care and cleaning tips.
If any hardware within the laptop carrier becomes moist or wet, immediately wipe up the spill, or as soon as it's noticed.
Prolonged exposure to moisture may result in the hardware components of the bag to rust.
Do not, under any circumstances, apply oil, grease, or lube to any of the locks, hinges, or zippers of the laptop bag.
Such substances may leak through, and could potential damage your laptop.
If any of the hardware components of the bag become scratched or nicked, rub damaged areas with fine steel wool, followed by a coat of lacquer or clear nail polish.
When it comes to properly caring for one's bag, it is essential to apply a good quality protectant to the bag before using it for the first time.
Make sure the protectant that you purchase is suitable for the type of material that the laptop bag is constructed of.
Make certain to apply the protectant every time the laptop bag is cleaned, as the original coat will be lifted out of the fabric, along with any dirt of stains that you remove.
For leather and suede laptop bags, special consideration needs to be taken when it comes to cleaning your bag.
For leather, wash with warm water and a soft cloth, or proper leather cleaner and a soft cloth.
Store the bag in a cool, dry environment, cotton with a cotton sheet or other breathable fabric, and allow time to dry naturally.
For suede laptop bags, it is recommended that the owner take the bag to a professional cleaner to remove any stains or impurities.
