    • The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act requires car warranties to clearly state how long the warranty is valid. The warranty varies depending on the vehicle and the manufacturer. The cost of most repairs made during the designated time frame will be paid by the manufacturer.

    • Mileage generally plays a role in vehicle warranty. The number of miles a manufacturer will warranty must be clearly stated. Some used cars can still be under manufacturer warranty. Some dealerships may provide additional coverage for used cars.

    • All repairs made to a vehicle while it's under warranty should be performed by the dealership and recorded. Any repairs or alterations made without dealership approval may void the warranty. Some repairs may not be covered under the warranty.
