    University of Chicago Law School

    • The University of Chicago founded its Law School in 1902. The school now offers a variety of degree programs, including a three-year Juris Doctor (JD) degree program, one-year Master of Laws (LLM) and Master of Comparative Laws (MCompL) degree programs and Doctor of Jurisprudence (JSD) and Doctor of Comparative Law (DCompL) programs with dissertation requirements. The University of Chicago operates on a quarter system. In 2010 "U.S. News & World Report" magazine ranked the University of Chicago fifth among the nation's law schools.

    Northwestern University School of Law

    • Northwestern University's School of Law began as the Union College of Law in 1859. As of 2009, the school enrolled about 240 JD and JD-MBA students. 95 percent of Northwestern's law students have had at least a year of work experience. The school offers Juris Doctor (JD), Master of Laws (LLM), Executive Master of Laws (LLM) and combined JD and Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree programs. Northwestern University operates on a quarter system. In 2010, Northwestern University tied for 11th in "U.S. News & World Report" magazine's ranking of law schools.

    Loyola University Chicago School of Law

    • The Loyola University Chicago School of Law opened in 1908 as the Lincoln College of Law. The school now grants a variety of masters and doctoral degrees in law, including the Juris Doctor (JD) degree, Doctor of Judicial Sciences (SJD) and Doctor of Laws (DLaw) degrees in health law and policy, the Master of Laws (LLM) degree and the Master of Jurisprudence (MJ) degree. Students can enter a full-time or part-time JD degree program. In 2010, the Loyola University Chicago tied for 78th in "U.S. News & World Report" magazine's ranking of law schools.

    Chicago-Kent College of Law, Illinois Institute of Technology

    • The Chicago-Kent College of Law merged with the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1969. The school offers a Juris Doctor (JD) degree program with concentrations in criminal litigation, alternative dispute resolution and environmental, intellectual property, international and comparative, labor and employment and public interest law. The school also offers Master of Laws (LLM) degree programs in family law, financial services law, international and comparative law, intellectual property law and taxation. Students can work toward a dual JD and LLM degree, JD and Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree, JD and Master of Public Health (MPH) degree or JD and Master of Science (MS) degree. The Illinois Institute of Technology tied for 80th in "U.S. News & World Report" magazine's 2010 ranking of the nation's law schools.

    DePaul University College of Law

    • The Illinois College of Law, founded in 1897, merged with DePaul University in 1912 and became the DePaul University College of Law. The school offers a Juris Doctor (JD) degree program with specializations in business law, criminal law, child and family law, health law, intellectual property law and information technology, international and comparative law and public interest law. The school also offers Master of Laws (LLM) degrees in health law, international law, intellectual property law and taxation as well as a variety of joint degree programs. DePaul University tied for 98th in "U.S. News & World Report" magazine's 2010 ranking of the nation's law schools.
