How to Clear a Web Address Bar

    Mozilla Firefox

    • 1). Ensure that your computer is connected to the Internet and open your web browser.

    • 2). Click on Tools in the menu bar at the top left of the window.

    • 3). Find Clear Private Data in the drop-down menu, and click on it. Alternatively you can press the control, shift and delete buttons simultaneously while the Firefox window is open and active.

      When the Clear Private Data dialogue window opens, check all of the boxes available and click the "Clear Private Data Now" button.

    • 5). Click on "Tools" at the top of the window. Find "Internet Options" in the drop-down menu, and click on it.
      When the dialogue box opens, select the 'General' tab.
      In the 'Browsing History' section, click the 'Delete' button. To clear the address bar, click 'Delete History.'
      When the dialogue box opens, select 'Yes,' then select 'Okay' at the bottom of the box to complete the process.

    Internet Explorer 6.x

    • 1). Ensure that your computer is connected to the Internet and open your web browser.

    • 2). Click on "Tools" in the menu bar at the top left of the window. Find "Internet Options" in the drop-down menu, and click on it.

      When the "Internet Options" dialogue box opens, select the "General" tab. In the "History" section, click on "Clear History."

    • 4). Select "Okay" to complete the process and close the dialogue window.

    Internet Explorer 7.x

    • 1). Ensure that your computer is connected to the Internet and open your web browser.

    • 2). Click on "Tools" in the menu bar at the top left of the window. Find "Internet Options" in the drop-down menu, and click on it.

      When the "Internet Options" dialogue window opens, select the "General" tab. In the "Browsing History" section, click the "Delete" button.

      A new dialogue window should appear. To clear the web address bar, click "Delete History" in the new window.

      At this point, a confirmation dialogue box will open. Select "Yes." Then select "Okay" at the bottom of the original dialogue window to complete the process.
