- 1). Test vision at home. You don't need to rush out to the doctor right away. If you're curious about your vision, non-profit companies such as Prevent Blindness offer free tests online (see Resources below).
- 2). Visit an ophthalmologist. If you took an online test and believe you have a vision issue, contact a local ophthalmologist who will test your vision at a more accurate level to determine your unique vision issue.
- 3). Get a second opinion. If you are uncomfortable with your doctor's treatment plan, seek the opinion of another doctor. When treating your vision issue, it's important to have an accurate test and a good plan for treatment.
- 4). Monitor symptoms closely. If you notice your vision decreasing despite treatment, seek medical assistance. Sometime there is an undiagnosed underlying eye disease that can cause issues if not diagnosed and treated.
