Find that jar of coins you keep meaning to take to the bank and pour them out onto a sheet of paper. Play around with patterns and swirls and then transfer the coins to the wall using water-resistant adhesive. Do not use cyanoacrylate adhesive or you will never get them off again. Polish them up beforehand and spray the final result with plastic spray to stop oxidization.
Recycle some mirror glass and driftwood.Jupiterimages/Goodshoot/Getty Images
Find an old mirror, take it out of the frame and frame again with driftwood or spare bits of wood now using cyanoacrylate adhesive. The more rustic-looking it is, the better. Seal the wood with waterproof varnish and slip the mirror behind the sink. Decorate the frame with shells or small stones for added design flair.

Collect all your metal or cork drink coasters and paint with waterproof varnish. Paint the wall with waterproof or washable paint, then arrange the coasters across the wall, attaching them with adhesive. Easy to clean, bright and original, they will add a happy hour ambiance to the kitchen.
Salvage broken ornaments and china.Martin Poole/Digital Vision/Getty Images
Break up already-broken china and valueless ornaments. Put them in a sturdy bag and bang with a hammer. Arrange the pieces into a rough mosaic. Cover the wall with a layer of filler, arrange the fragments on the filler to form the design, then wait for the filler to dry. Apply waterproof varnish to seal.
