The city was founded way back in 1905, prior to which it used to be part of Mexico. It was in 1955 that it became a part of the United States. It was inhabited by Paiute Indians who had their own cultures and practices. After annexation, most of them were converted to Mormonism. Las Vegas was actually incorporated as a city was in the year 1911 and Peter Buol was the first Mayor. It used to be a popular railroad town as it was surrounded by mines and the ore used to be shipped to the rest of the country through this town. The building of the Hoover Dam in 1935 changed the status of the city and more people started settling here and tourism increased. There are several high end restaurants situated in this mall that have private entrances and access round the clock.
The city is tolerant towards various forms of adult entertainment and earned itself the title of Sin City.
