- 1). Wash the nectarine under cool running water.
- 2). Remove the skin by lightly scoring with a paring knife and peeling it away from the fruit. You can also simply cut away any bruised areas -- the skin is edible.
- 3). Eat the fruit by biting into it. For less messy eating -- nectarines can be very juicy -- place it onto a cutting board and slice into pieces. Like peaches, nectarines contain inedible pits that should be removed and discarded.
- 4). Place the nectarine slices on a plate or in a bowl and eat with a fork. You may also wish to add the pieces as toppings for salads, cottage cheese, yogurt or ice cream.
